I bought that round wooden one on Amazon- don’t waste your money.
I need one that will do as small as 1 mm to 28-30mm. Even if I have to buy two of them.
Anyone?

I think I have answered this once before… I have a tool that looks like a pair of pliers and came with a whole bag of attachments for grommets, snaps, rivets, rhinestones, and safety eyes . The tool was made by dritz. Now I have had this thing for just shy of a quarter of eternity, but they should still have something similar
Thanks, Dritz makes some unique things.
This is what I found on Dritz website. Is this what you’re talking about @anon5108995 ?
Golly, how would I know what size, and doesn’t it damage the eye part?
what I have looks similar and it has the plastic attachments on both sides so no metal touches the thing you are pinching
if the rings are the right size and there is a hole in the middle and it’s plastic on both sides it should work
Oh, so that’s what the plastic things are for!!
If you can find someone to make you a wooden one they work. Recently i have had challenging eye back and had to bring out my hammer and a hard plastic cylinder to get the back on. Once i get a order of new eyes ill get my hubby to make one. Its more or less a
2x4 that has circles cut out the size of the backs. If that makes sense.
Ive also heard to soak the backs in water thats mid temp to soften the plastic a bit it goes on better
Golly! Who invented these safety eyes anyway? Someone who has calloused hands and does thumb workouts?
I know these backs are horrible but they dont come off. Definitly not easy
If the backs don’t come off, they should be safe right?
Seems ironic that these little are not easy to get on nor off but call them safety eyes BUT don’t give to anyone under 3???
well, back when they invented them, they were the safer alternative to buttons, they are still choking hazards and should not be left alone with a baby because the fabric around them can be chewed off
Well, just quit calling them safety eyes then.
It’s an oxymoron.
Right some of mine i could take the backs off so not so safe…
Heres a couple of pictures of what i meant
I think those are still more difficult to use than the plier type
I have one of the ones that Cosmik shared in the photos (mine isn’t wood, though), and fwiw, I do find it really helpful. I imagine the pliers also work like a charm.
Is there a grannycyclopedia badge? Or an expert badge? There should be.
If there was, they wouldn’t give it to her.
That is all.
Is yours resin? I cant stand those ones if thats what it is. The wood ones would be more stable. My worries with resin is it would snap.
Mine is resin; I haven’t had any issues with it (and I’m none too gentle), but definitely understand the concern. If I had seen the wooden ones first, I would have grabbed one of those, but at the time these were the only ones I knew about (and it was Halloween colors, so I was admittedly drawn in deeper by that)
