I’m starting Tunisian Crochet soon. Do yall have any tips or tricks. Anything you’ve found out that has improved your work?
I don’t know what that is lol
I didn’t know either until a month ago lol
When I want to learn something about Tunisian crochet I watch this channel
Toni is awesome and she explains things really well, and has tons of videos.
Make sure you have the right hooks. I use my Susan Bates since they’re straight down the sides rather than tapered. I learned for my own comfort that if I went full-blown big project tunisian I would need to get the set of hooks that has the cords that can attach to a normal sized hook, rather than the super long ones. Those felt like I was pole vaulting instead of crocheting and just wasn’t comfortable for me.
Do small swatches of new stitches when you’re learning them, instead of something huge (and actually do swatches, it matters).
Ok!! Thank you so much!! I will def watch that!
I’m a newer Tunisian crocheter too. Tension seems to be something to make sure your keeping a close as possible as you work.
Good luck
Hi
, usually I use a hook one size bigger for the fundation chain. I think it is better in terms of tension. I agree with other suggestions, especially doing small swatches of the stitches you are using, it helps a lot in my opinion.
I kinda know how to do Tunisian crochet??
Thank you! I will remember that
Thank you!!
I would recommend learning with TL yarn crafts
Thank you!!
Ofc
There is also two other people who teach Tunisian Crochet.
This is a great resource.
Kim has TONS of free patterns!
I looked elsewhere cuz TLY crafts just didn’t click for me.
Toni definitely has a certain groove. I have to slow her video play speed down, myself ![]()
I haven’t seen CrochetKim, so I’ll look into that one too!
I actually really love Tunisian crochet, but I’m still very much a beginner with it too.
I can crochet that has tutorials on you tube.
Thank you!
Keep a loose tension when you pull up loops!
Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind!
I’ve found that tightening the loop on my hook before starting a row, helps to create a neater edge.
This website has a lot of good tutorials and advice about Tunisian crochet:
