Are compression gloves worth it?

hey everyone, i’m thinking about purchasing some compression gloves for crocheting, but worried they might not work as well as i’m thinking. i have sweaty hands, and when i crochet, you can hear the yarn squeak, and my hook slide, so i’m hoping compression gloves could help. Of course, id also like to buy them for pain, too.
I also do other hobbies that use my hands muscles, so I think that could impact those hobbies as well!

any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I haven’t considered using gloves, that’s a good idea.

Ooooooh I’ve been wondering the same thing! Sometimes my hands hurt from crocheting but would compression gloves actually help? I feel like they would be uncomfortable to meh:smiling_face_with_tear:

Hi!
I tried the compression gloves because I have arthritis in my fingers. That is a good idea too about helping if hands are sweaty.

When I tried them it did help with the pain in my fingers. They are bulky at first and you’ll just have to get used to them if they work for you.

I didn’t like the fact that I wrap the incoming yarn around my index finger and my pinkie for the tension. I ended up cutting the finger part of the glove back because it kept getting stuck on that finger.
Good luck!!

Yeah, I’m hoping they could help a little bit, I don’t know if the yarn I hole my yarn is different or something, but I hold it like this

I hold the yarn on top of my pointer finger, and pinch the yarn with my ring and pinky. So I’m not sure how gloves would affect that. I guess I’ll have to buy them to truly figure it out if they work for me :pray:

I hold it like that too. I guess it just depends on how far down the material goes on the gloves.

I love that nice thick blue yarn!!

I love mine. They do help with the sweating (I despise that squeaky sound), and they keep my index finger from getting rubbed raw by rougher yarn (I’m looking at you, Red Heart Supersaver!) lol. They are super comfy and really just great all around for me.

@Combre these are the same ones I have, I think.

they definitely work! I have a commission of 7 dolls in cotton and it hurts my hands so I stop and put on the gloves and it works away the pain! I have two sets of gloves both work great!

Personally, i bought mine for quadrobics, but have used them in crocheting a lot too. I feel they are completely worth it. I bought mine from CopperJoint on amazon for $20, and they’ve reduced pain and sweatyness in both hobbies and for $20 have held up very well. The way I look at it, buy a cheap pair and if you hate em its not a huge waste, but personally i love mine.

Full pros and cons list:

Pros:
Reduced Pain and swelling
Reduced sweating
Were very comfortable
Affordable
Can be used in anything

Cons:
Takes some getting used to
Some people hate the feeling
Can give anxiety if you have clastrophobia

Tips:
Get fingerless gloves

If you hate em, don’t force yourself to wear em

(For gymnysts and quadrobists) Wear Another pair of gloves on top too prevent rips (no need in crochet)

Dont wear them 24/7

I saw on insta a metal type one that looks like hand jewelry. I didnt think to save it but if you google it you might find one similar. Youd probably want one thats at least surgical steel because of sweat otherwise it might tarnish. I personally have never used either one

I just got a pair because my mom is a fashion designer and made costumes and clothes growing up, so with that being said, she developed carpal tunnel (I believe it runs in the family) and had to wear a compression gloves in order to sew. So I got a pair too to help prevent that happening because crocheting is already causing me some pain in my hands.
This is a pair I found on Amazon for Black Friday

I personally use them sometimes because of how I messed up my right hand a few years ago and now I randomly get a stabbing pain. They are arthritis gloves technically, but they work well. It actually helps my hands feel much better, I just don’t wear them too long or my hands feel weird when I take them off.
