Asking for help & advice <3

hey guyss!

sooo i recently started my etsy shop about 2-3 weeks ago but i’ve been having some trouble with gaining any traffic at all.

does anyone else with an etsy shop have this problem? and does anyone have any advice? So far i’ve made one sale but etsy fees left me with nothing from that sale.

If anyone can help or give me some suggestions i’d really appreciate it! i’m terrible at social media but still trying.

If you fancy helping out, even just adding my listings to favourites will help:cherry_blossom:

i don’t know what to do from here:melting_face:

my advice is to keep trying to spread the word on social media! you might not get a lot of attention at first, but eventually you’ll gain traction. maybe if you’re interested you could even do crochet business vlogs on yt, a lot of people watch those. just don’t give up, i believe in you <3

Hey Bloomhauss! Raise your prices, they are too low. Participate in markets and promote your etsy from there. Cheers. :sparkles:

thanks for the advice! unfortunately im unable to participate in markets where i live, absolutely would if i could.

i’m also selling patterns, so pricing is always quite difficult to settle on, especially with no current reviews. but thankyou!! will definitely think about this <3

I personally dislike etsy for a multitude of reasons. I would rather buy patterns elsewhere before resorting to using etsy. But that’s just me.

I think that selling on Ribblr is a much better idea. You don’t have anywhere as much competition to start with.

I realise etsy has a larger audience given that it’s been running for much longer than Ribblr, however, this also means there is a lot more competition.

If, however, you want to sell on etsy, I recommend checking out youtube videos by Starla Moore. She’s the expert on all things etsy.

Business nowadays relies greatly on the use of social media. Perhaps, if you were to create a Pinterest account and post images of your patterns & makes with a link to your Ribblr shop. Alternatively, start a YouTube account and show your makes off there, add your Ribblr shop details to the end of the video etc.

You also need to be patient. I know it’s easier said than done, but these things don’t happen overnight. They take time and a lot of work. Your shop has only been open 2-3 weeks.

One thing that’s important to remember is that if you’re making the same/similar things to everyone else you won’t stand out among all the other patterns/makes. You need to be different in order to stand out.

If you haven’t already done so, you need to make a business plan?

As my economics lecturer said: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”.

Good luck with your new venture. :four_leaf_clover:

thankyou so much for this!

i personally went for etsy because it has a bigger audience, although this does mean more competition (as you said).

and yes patience is 100% right.

i’ll keep all this in mind, this is really helpful, thank you <3

i think there’s probably some information about the internet on this, but etsy has had problems with not pushing out smaller businesses on their platform. i need to do more research on that, but i believe that is a factor in your problem.

my advice to you would be go to social media! make an insta acc showing off your makes, and pinterest wouldn’t be a bad idea either! good luck :)

etsy honestly sucks TwT but what others have already said here is good advice, you really need to have other social media platforms to promote your shop :))
