Beanie Fitting

How do y’all figure out beanie size fitting? I’m like halfway through the works for a beanie/bucket hat, but I don’t have an infant and I want it to be inclusive up to adult bc it’s cute, is there like, a size comparable item I can put a hat on? From infant to adult? Should I get a doll? I also don’t know any kiddos bc our neighbors are unapproachable and I don’t have kids myself so that interaction is null and void. I have the chart for crown sizes, and that’s great, but like, it’s not going on my head and I’m visual so I can’t wrap my head around the actual fit of it. Y’know? Height of hat and overall width due to ruffles is the current struggle.

I actually crocheted some heads so I could do that myself. But before that if you need an infant you could get a ball that size or blow up a balloon that size. Would be helpful.

Interesting interesting I like it :relieved: I may have to put a pause on these bucket hats even though I like them because I’d rather they fit right than not, and I fear I’ve been blessed with a pinhead but that is a wonderful idea and solves like three things, stash bust September, hat height and diameter, and estimating overall fit.

Here’s a chart from The Snugglery that I found! I know it’s not exactly what you’re looking for but I hope this helps!

The picture @Kiiruna posted is good, especially if you’re working on a pattern you want people to be able to choose a size. If you’re doing one for a specific person, they can measure from their hairline, back around their head behind their ears. There are photo examples online, I don’t have a good one available at the moment
