Bell Sleeves

Hi!

I don’t normally post about this stuff, but I’ve been struggling to find patterns with Bell Sleeves. I have seen a few, but they’re not what I’m looking for if that makes sense? I’m wanting to make a sweater, but not one with the “mesh” look, and not cropped (because if I’m wearing a sweater, it’s too cold for my tummy to be showing :joy:

I’ve definitely thought about designing my own, but my forte generally lies in blankets and amigurumi, not in apparel.

Whether a ribblr pattern or one from elsewhere, could you leave your recommendations? Thank you so much! :yellow_heart:

I think you can just choose a pattern for a sweater you like (whether cropped or not since a cropped can just be made longer with more rows) and another pattern for the bell sleeves you like but maybe not the body sweater from another pattern that you’re interested in it that way you end up with a result you like just by Frankenstein-ing it if that makes sense

I think something you could potentially do is either double, triple, etc strand the yarn to make it thicker and therefore less messy, change the stitches so there’s less gaps, use a bigger sized yarn, or change the hook size to be smaller. Of course the tension, yardage, and drape would be changed, I did find a video of bell top sleeves that could be an option since It didn’t look to be too meshy compared to others but I think learning how its done (basically the increases) and just doing sc or hdc crochet to make it up instead could work as well

I found a couple of patterns on YouTube. The cropped ones could easily be extended by adding a few extra rows:
