Best yarn

Hey all. Does anybody know what brand of yarn is best for baby blankets and baby hats? I’d like one that’s super soft. Thanks.

Bernat baby blanket is always a good one
Another one would be sweet snuggles although have never tried it as it is an American Brand!

Thanks! I usually make amigurumi and had a neighbor ask if I could make a baby blanket. I’ve never made one before and I want it to be the best lol.

Bernat has some just searching Bernat Baby yarn and click which one you like, plus I believe they’re OEKO-TEX; Standard certification verified, so what yarn you choose it would be good to have that, congrats on your first post!

Personally I wouldn’t use fluffy yarns for a baby as the shed and can be a breathing hazard
I would pick a soft cotton or acrylic (cotton would technically be better, but I do use acrylic)
I like Bernat Super Value, Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton or Yarn, and Craft Smart Value. Sometimes I’ll use Caron pound, but not often

Yes, don’t use chenille with infants and any baby.

Thank you. I didn’t know that. Cotton would be okay, right?

I used bernat baby blanket for my baby cousins (just turned 1 year old) and it wasn’t any issue. Bernat baby blanket doesn’t really shed much and I would recommend checking the age, because it might be a problem for younger babies like newborns.

She said it’s for a newborn, so I may stick with the cotton yarn.

Cotton would be great, and it can stand being washed in hot water if needed.

Bernat velvet or baby velvet and premier parfait chunky are good ones (i havent had issues with bernat velvet shedding)

The other issue when making crochet fur infants/babies is wether or not the yarn is oeko-Tex certified.

I included a link that explains this.

Fortunately, the Premier Yarn line has a lot of yarns that do meet these criteria.
