So I have been wondering recently how can I become a better crocheter, because I used to crochet on the wrong side but now I crochet on the better side, I know how to color change better, I know how to pick the correct hook size now. So are there any like “tips” that y’all have to become better besides like learning more crochet stitches? Thanks!!!
I would tell you tricks but I don’t have any and I’m kind of needing these tricks too lol
I don’t know much tricks tbh but the best one I knew and started working with is using a hook smaller than the recommended hook size in the label , it makes the stitches pretty neat, for example i use a 4mm hook on an 8mm yarn and it looks much better than when I use the recommended size.
Also there’s another tip on how to make the edges clean but lmk if you actually need that before I waste your time
Oooh! I need a tip for straight edges please!!
The only tips I have is learning the right tension. Also for straight edges what I do is for sc I chain one at the end of each row, for double, two, for triple, three, and so on.
yarning under to make x sc (dc in UK terms), if you haven’t already learned that :D
There are many ways but the one I prefer most is simple (in US terms btw)
If using single crochet: Once you finish the last stitch in the row rotate your work clockwise and just start the row by doing Sc (DON’T CHAIN 1!!!) and finish the row using normal Sc, it’s very useful in tapestry to get nice clean edges.
if using double crochet: Once you finish the last stitch in the row rotate your work clockwise and do one Sc, then you’ll find 2 loops on the yarn, insert your hook into the first loop (from the left side) and do another Sc in it. You’ll have your first double crochet, then finish the row using normal Double crochet and repeat on last stitch of the row. (this also works on half double crochet)
Sorry if something seems unclear I’m trying to explain as much as I could if you have any questions DM me and I’ll send you a better explanation
Ok! I will see if that helps! Tysm!
ooh, i love these two!! you can also do a stdc (i can link a video), but that’s a little more complicated :)
Ooh yes!! But yeah I find it complicated too tbh I’m thinking about trying Tunisian crochet but I find it pretty complicated, any tips?
- yeah, but it creats a nice seamless look :D
- n-no… i tried it before i knew what it was called, but with a normal hook (i was making a bag strap)… it’s pretty simple!! just don’t drop the loops, lol
The only way I can get straight edits by using a stitch marker at the end of my row.
I put the stitch marker in my chain 1 and that indicates for me not to go into that stitch.
Thanks for all of this I have been off almost all day sorry everyone
