I need a mindless project to do during lectures, and I just got my yarn (5 skeins of forest green and 5 skeins of light purple). Do you have any suggestions for a stitch I should use for this blanket?
you could do a granny stitch blanket, or maybe a really large single granny square? or I know @craftycellist was making a basket stitch blanket that was really cool!
Omg thank you, I will look through them
Hm, I don’t really want the blanket to have too many holes and granny stitch blankets tend to do that. At the same time I don’t have too much yarn, so holes seem like a good way to make a bigger blanket
you could also use a stitch that uses less yarn while still building up (like DC or something)
super excited to see what you make!
i will once again suggest a 6 day star blanket, it used dc, sc, and granny stitches
oh my gosh I keep seeing this and I wanna try it so bad, but I know my parents would not be happy if I started a new blanket-
maybe time to frog a similar one I have started and do this one instead?
it works up pretty quickly and can be made to be quite large. it’s a nice mindless project, but also keeps me engaged due to the switch in stitches. i always love seeing people’s iterations of them. im on my 4th right now
That sounds like a perfect middle ground between mindless and engaging project, I think I will go with it.
Do you think I should change out colors every row, every repeat or maybe just when the skein runs out?
6 day star blanket?
betty mcknit (the writer of this particular version) suggests you switch every 2 rounds for the first 4 set up rounds, and after that switch color every three. i have seen some lovely ones that switch color every two rounds though, so im sure whichever you pick will look lovely. here’s a link to the free pattern if you’d like it
Thanks! I have heard about the drama about this pattern, but I didn’t pay attention to how often people changed colors
if you need clearer instructions (which is what all the drama was about lol) she has youtube tutorials explaining what to do
I think I will manage, I learned crocheting terminology from patterns like that
once you get going, you hardly have to look at the pattern since it’s the same order all around
You could maybe do this 6 day starblanket.
After looking through different star blankets on her side I did choose the superstar blanket lol. I like that it’s almost round and there aren’t any long points
Oh lol
I just looked back through all the comments and I saw that everybody else is suggesting 6 day star blankets. Sorry lol ![]()
Don’t worry about it, it’s funny that you suggested the blanket I choose and didn’t write it here
