I got the request for a dog with a brindle coloured fur and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what yarn to use to get the colours?

Maybe variegated yarn or using more than one strand at once?
I know I’ve seen variegated yarn with super short color sections, but I don’t know what brand it was.
