Maybe buy more of the lighter colored yarn.

It is a yarn that changes color but I had to cut it becuase it had knots, so it is the same ball of yarn

Oh that really sucks. I absolutely hate cutting yarn because of knots so I’ll spend hours on untangling. I have a lot of younger siblings so I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
