cardigan gauge help 🙏

hi everyone, i hope your day’s doing alright!
I need some help and your opinion!

I’ve recently ordered some yarn to make my first cardigan, I need some help deciding what hook I should use :D

here are my gauges;

The pattern calls for a 5mm, but I thought I’d test out some other hooks

What hook do you think would be best?

• 4.5mm
• 5mm
• 5.5mm

The pattern includes a gauge so I suggest working up a swatch to their specifications and seeing if it’s the right size (in this case, 5 rows x 6 hdc sts should equal a 2" x 2" square). Having the correct yarn and hook for the gauge is important, because it will affect the cardigan sizing.

Which one is closest to the 2" by 2"? That’s the one you should use.

I’m doing probably the most classic mushroom, the Fly Agaric
I was close to choosing the shiitake but I wanted to play it safe I guess
which fungi are you thinking?

Its still a good choice tho, even tho ur playing safe! as w my decision, i’m still deciding… I’m thinking either Fly Agaric or the Portobello! I wanted to do chanterelle since its common/popular where I live but (sorry to the designer) it doesn’t rlly look like a mushroom I dont want ppl to not know whats on my cardigan if that makes sense?? ok sorry for yapping

Id do 5 or 5.5. 4mm might make it too stiff and bulky feeling.
