[closed] Tester call for Crochet: Monster Truck

Read the entire post before applying and do all requirements, or you will not be chosen.

Hi everyone! I’m back with another test, but this one is a bit outside my norm. This is a monster truck I built in anticipation of a birthday gift for a friends son. I’m going to make his in blue/yellow but the pink was for the pattern/prototype and is going to my kiddo. She loves it so far and I’m hoping others would love it too!

:pickup_truck: This is a confident beginner/intermediate pattern. There is some color changing, the panels need to be sewn together, and you have options with the tires. Also I suggest using cardboard on the bottom of the truck and, if you’d prefer it not to be as puffy/cartoony, you can use cardboard all around to make it more solid.

:pickup_truck: Important: I need you to tell me which option you’re going with. Either you’re sewing on your tires, or you want to make them be able to rotate. The rotation can be done in 1 of 2 ways: doll joints (which is what I used, you can purchase them on amazon, I used 15mm) OR you can use 8 beads/buttons and some sturdy yarn to connect the tires so they still rotate.

:pickup_truck: Due date is March 14th. Do not apply if you can’t meet the time please. I’ll be picking 6-8 testers in a day or two, depending on how many apply.

:pickup_truck: No ghosting or aborting with no reason! If you need to quit, just tell me. I’ll be checking in occasionally. Ghosts will be removed and likely will be blocked from future tests.

:pickup_truck: There are no yarn requirements. I would love someone to do it in worsted yarn to see if it holds its structure better even without cardboard, but not required. For colors, get creative, model it after a famous truck or just choose your favorite color.

:pickup_truck: If you’re new to ribblr or don’t have any makes, feel free to show photos of your favorite makes below to show off your skills

:pickup_truck: If you’ve read all this, put your yarn type and hook size in the comments a long with a truck emoji, and state whether you plan to sew on the tires or use a method to make them rotate.

Would love to test for you again! I can use chenille or acrylic yarn (whichever you would like!) with a 3mm hook, also would love to do rotating tires! Would use either cardboard or custom 3d printed parts to make it flat/sturdier. Attaching photo to show what I mean as I have done it a few times now and love the result it gives! I used it in the inside bottom of these ice chess pieces I made for a pattern on insta. I can do either way, just showing an option I have been doing recently to make crochet pieces sturdier. :pickup_truck:

Love the idea of combining 3d print. My husband 3d prints and he’s made me a few basket bases, crochet rings, and even hooks lol. Always fun to make our hobbies work together!

This is awesome! I would love to test with Alize Velluto and a 7 mm hook. I do have a lot of acrylic yarn for 4 mm hook and I can do that one if you prefer

I would sew on the tires :pickup_truck:

And I always forget to put emojis :joy:

Okay so you know I have to give this a shot. My toddler would love a squishy monster truck. I’ll used worsted weight yarn and a 4mm hook. I’m also down to try rotating tires with beads :pickup_truck:

Yes it is fun to combine them! I think I have been using his 3d printer more than him lately! :joy:

I’ll be interested to test this as my nephew loves cars too. I’ll probably try with some cotton or tee shirt yarn as they hold their shape well and I’ll be interested in trying one of the rotating wheel methods.:sport_utility_vehicle::wheel:

:pickup_truck: I’d love to try this, how many stitches is the biggest round (to see if I can meet the time frame before I apply) I would use worsted weight acrylic, also I’m pretty sure I can make the tires rotate only using sewing and no inserts or buttons, if I can’t I have plenty of cardboard and beads and buttons, but I’ve done similar stuff with sewing before, I just don’t want to apply until I know the largest stitch count so I don’t make a commitment I know I won’t be able to keep, barring any unforeseen circumstances :delivery_truck:

I’ll pm you
