Community upgrades and improvements ๐ŸŽ๏ธ

TLDR: We have rolled out community upgrades, including speed enhancements :racing_car: and some design changes to improve your experience overall.


For the last several weeks you may have experienced slower than usual speeds and performance when using all of our community features such as posting, messaging, chatting and testing. :snail:

We have addressed this on several occasions, but we wanted to take the time to explain a little bit more, to all of you.

As Ribblr continues to grow rapidly we are working hard to keep up with the demand.
Hundreds of thousands of crafters use Ribblr every month, which is why we have multiple (big :sweat_smile:) servers in multiple locations.
This means you should experience a good performance overall when using Ribblr.
However, when one server gets overloaded we have strict measures in place which, in simple terms, puts you in a queue to avoid any downtime and data loss.
This queue gets longer with more users trying to access features at the same second, and therefore their loading time in particular may vary and be delayed significantly.

This is exactly what happened recently, especially during peak time such as special events like our Mega March giveaway, and why your experience when using the community may have been inconsistent.


We continue to invest resources in performance improvements

Over the last two weeks we performed not one but three major maintenance jobs on our community servers.
In fact, thereโ€™s always work behind the scenes to make sure everything is running as it should, and for the most part you would never even be aware of it. Not being noticed is what our engineers strive for :wink:

Since Ribblr launched 2.5 years ago we have had 99.99% uptime, but that doesnโ€™t mean we accept degraded performance, even if it only affects a small percentage of users.

We understand the frustration this can cause and we apologize if you were affected.

As we experience these growing pains together, weโ€™ll continue to learn and improve so youโ€™ll be less and less affected over time.
