Confession time, Ribblr family! Let’s be honest about our yarn habits... 🫣🧶

:joy::joy: looking at the price tag and saying ‘Nope!’ is the ultimate shield against impulse buying! :joy: It takes serious willpower to resist a pretty skein of yarn. Love your practical approach to keeping the stash under control! :raising_hands: yarn rules!

Wow, planning 10 projects in advance is next-level organization! :exploding_head: I honestly wish I had that much self-control, usually I just see pretty colors and lose my mind! :joy: Your storage system sounds incredibly smart too. Thanks for sharing your yarn secrets with us! :yarn::sparkles:"

Thank you.

I guess it’s easier not to buy extra things you don’t need when you don’t go to the store in person. I can see why seeing and touching yarn can make you want it more.

I tend to prefer to buy online as I make mostly sweaters. AND I wear a big size and I like them a bit loose and long. I’ve never found a store yet where I can walk out with 10-12 skeins of the same yarn and colour. They never seem to have enough for me. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yep, as you well know after my other post LOL, buying online CAN lead to mini traumas. But honestly that only happened that one time really. That was literally the first time ever I just threw yarn out.

For me buying online much more often leads to happy surprises. My yarn that arrived this week…I love the colour much more than I expected to. The colour just really makes me happy. Just a bright orangey red.

And now I’m loving that Super Saver yarn so much that I’ll be getting more for the next 2 sweaters too. And the sweater I’m making now is less expensive than I could buy a sweater for in a store.

Definitely 2 hobbies. I only buy for a project, but I have a horrible time estimating what I need and I always fear I won’t have enough. We live quite far from any yarn store or a store with any yarn so it’s not like I can run in and grab a skein somewhere. And ordering takes a while still sometimes. I rather err on too much than too little. Sometimes it is way too much and therefore my stash grows from overestimating. I am currently only making projects from what is currently in my stash. Don’t have it, I will improvise with another color. If I absolutely must buy something I have bought the smallest quantity possible and planned to use up that color asap. I mainly want to go to more natural fibers as often as I can for projects so I want use up my synthetic fibers and not buy more or as little as possible.

I totally get that! Finding 10-12 matching skeins in a physical store is almost impossible, online bulk buying is definitely a savior for big, cozy projects! And loose, long sweaters are the absolute best for autumn! :fallen_leaf: Safe to say you are officially Team Long! Thanks for sharing, Bardia! :yarn::heart:

Living far from a yarn store definitely adds a whole new level of planning stress! :exploding_head: Better to have too much than to run out mid-project, so your logic is 100% sound! Love that you are improvising with colors from your current stash and making the shift to natural fibers. That is so eco-friendly and creative! Thanks for sharing! :herb:

They don’t sound like AI; they do however sound like someone who is well spoken, creative, and knows how to write well. Each reply sounds as if they take their time to give a thoughtful and kind response catered reflecting what each person wrote rather than a generic lol or thank you for your reply type response. Given the heavy use of AI and how people communicate online lately, I definitely see how well written responses can be mistaken for AI and don’t fault you in the least.

Yes. Yes they are!! :joy::joy: i try to only buy yarn if need ed for a ptoject but then (like you said) i see a pretty skein and ideas just start flowing “I could do *this with this yarn” or “I could do *this with that yarn”.. sometimes even “ooh!!! I could do *that with these two (or more)” lol.. my stash is about 5 totes full and then some.. lol.. ive got prob (at least) 5 project bags each with more yarn in them..
