‘My name is Aelin Ahryver Galathynius, and I will not be afraid.’
ok I will!
i have too many favorites to pick from but here’s the first bit from a first book in a duology that i love:
The infection comes as a fever in the night. If
you take ill, watch the veins—the tributary of
blood traveling down the arms. If they remain
as they ever did, you have nothing to fear. If the
blood darkens to an inky black, the infection
has taken hold.
The infection comes as a fever in the night.
I was nine the first time the Physicians came to the house.
My uncle and his men were away. My cousin Ione and her brothers
played loudly in the kitchen, and my aunt did not hear the pounding at the
door until the first man in white robes was already in the parlor.
She did not have time to hide me. I was asleep, resting like a cat in the
window. When she shook me awake, her voice was thick with fear. “Go to
the wood,” she whispered, unlatching the window and gently pushing me
through the casement to the ground below.
I did not fall onto warm summer grass. My head struck stone and I
blinked, dizzy nausea casting dark shapes across my vision, my head haloed
in red, sticky warmth.
I heard them in the house, their steps heavy with sinister intent.
Get up, called the voice in my head. Get up, Elspeth.
One Dark Window - Rachel Gillig
Keepers of the Lost Cities
1rst Paragraph
“Miss Foster!” Mr. Sweeny’s nasal voice cut through Sophie’s blaring music as he yanked her ear buds out by the cords. “Have you decided that your too smart to pay attention to this information?” Sophie forced her eyes open. She tried not to wince as the blue fluorescent reflected off the vivid blue walls of the museum, amplifying the throbbing headache she was hiding. “No Mr. Sweeney,” she mumbled, shrinking under the glares of her now staring classmates.
Kotlc is super interesting! It’s my fave series 4eva!
Lol we have the same paragraphs!
I love WoF!
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
Guilt is a hunter
My conscience mocked me, picking fights like a petulant child
It’s all your fault, the voice whispered. quickened my pace and caught up with our small group. The Germans would march us off the field road if they found us. Roads were reserved for the military. Evacuation orders
hadn’t been issued and anyone fleeing East Prussia was branded a deserter. But what did that matter? I became a deserter four years ago, when I fled from Lithuania.
“The upside of being born on reaping day is that you can sleep late on your birthday. It’s pretty much downhill from there. A day off school hardly compensates for the terror of the name drawing. Even if you survive that, nobody feels like have cake after watching two kids being hauled off to the capitol for slaughter. I roll over and pull the sheet over my head.”
Sunrise on the reaping! Suzanne Collins :D it’s a great book. Tho I do have to admit that the paragraph isn’t the most gripping thing ![]()
yes!!!
‘There were dragons when I was a boy.
There were great, grim, sky dragons that nested on the cliff tops like gigantic, scary birds. Little, brown, scuttly dragons that hunted down the mice and rats in well-organized packs. Preposterously huge Sea Dragons that were twenty times as big as the Big Blue Whale and who killed for the fun of it.’
-How to Train Your Dragon book 1 by Cressida Cowell (A Note from the Hero)
‘Long ago, on the wild and windy isle of Berk, a smallish Viking with a longish name stood up to his ankles in snow.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, the Hope and Heir to the Tribe of the Hairy Hooligans had been feeling slightly sick ever since he woke up that morning.’
-How to Train Your Dragon book 1 by Cressida Cowell (Chapter 1. First Catch Your Dragon)
These books are so underrated please read them they’re SO good. (Warning: they are VERY different from the movies and Hiccup x Astrid is nonexistent (literally there is no romance) and Astrid in general does not exist)
can I join too?
I overthrown of glass it’s soooo good
