I think it would be more user friendly to have a Back and maybe a Forward navigation arrow.
It’s a bit clunky and inconvenient how it is right now, especially when looking through patterns.

The bank and forward gestures are actually built in to the operating system and can be used via the app as long as you have Android 10+ installed or iOS 10+.
Simple swipe left on the left edge of the screen to go back and the opposite side to go forward.
