hey guys!!
i need some advice about an autumn blanket i’ve been making for a while.
i have some ideas of what went wrong but if anyone can let me know what they think…
this is the blanket! (after wetting it)
its curling as i go and basically shrinking the whole thing. maybe i missed some stitches on the end?
if anyone knows if this is fixable or if i just need to frog it and start over pls let me know.
i’m so sad i’ve been working on this for ages now

So it looks as though you’ve started off with a specific number of chains/stitches, however, over the following rows you’ve missed working into some of those stitches. This is what’s caused the distortion.
From looking closely at the photos, it appears to be the row/s following the orange bobbles (pumpkins?). If I’m correct there’s a brown stem on top of the pumpkins. If I’m not mistaken, when I count the stitches worked between the stems they vary. The first 2 rows with stems show you’ve worked 6 stitches between each stem, however the 3rd row of stems shows 5 stitches between the stems. The following ‘stem’ rows shows a mix of between 5, 6 and occasionally 7 stitches worked between the stems.
The reduction of stitches worked over multiple rows will cause this distortion to your blanket.
This is why it’s really important to count your stitches at the end of each row so you can address the problem early on.
In order to fix this you’ll need to know how many stitches you had in row 1?
You’ll most likely need to frog your work back to about the 3rd row of ‘stems’ over the pumpkins. Then, count the number of stitches in that row to see if it’s the same number of stitches you started with in row one.
Don’t look at it as a fail. Look at it as a learning experience.

It’s so cute! I love the little pumpkins! I wouldn’t give up on it. It does look like over the course of a few rows you accidentally dropped stitches. I don’t know a good way to fix the curling without frogging it. It’s okay, it happens
Very cute though!

It is soo cute, I think Imadeit is right, also are you remembering turning chains? Those also help

It really is a cute autumn blanket design!
Unfortunately, it does seem like you’re going to need to frog and be a bit more careful with counts
It really is a wonderful blanket though - don’t give up!

I think you’re right! This is also what i suspected had happened.
I thought I could do without counting because its my least favourite part of doing projects like this
Now i’m paying for it I guess, but thankyou so much for the advice!

This looks so pretty!! Idk how to fix it but don’t frog it
I agree with IMadeIt.
Advice going forward:
iIt’s really easy to miss a stitch after doing a BBL stitch, they have always been my most likely to miss the stitch after stitches, so I got into the habit of counting how many stitches I had left after the BBL, & before making my next stitch I would put my hook where I think it goes & count making sure the right number of stitches are there, & I noticed I was usually putting my hook a stitch ahead, it has gotten a lot easier since doing that, & now I’m usually right the first time I put my hook in the next stitch especially on a project with a lot of BBLs every round because you learn how in that specific pattern the next stitch after the BBL looks/hides and counting isn’t as necessary after each BBL
