Crochet burnout (I need help)

Hi guys… It’s been a while I’m like this actually… But I lost my motivation to crochet, and I even don’t do it - rarely!

I can’t pick up the hook and crochet - I’m not finding any pleasure in it, it feels numb and uncomfortable.

The same is happening with my reading. I forget it, and can’t even pick a book easily. It requires so much force to me read a book. I’m currently trying to reread Player Number One before sleeping, or Brave New World during the day.

Can’t do any hobby anymore, just this d*mn phone, this idiot brick in my hands.

I don’t know if I’m addicted to it, but I don’t feel or have the willpower to do anything, even to write personal things.

I’m only doing school things on my school time, watching Ranma or UY (can’t even watch because of lack of will) and that’s it.

I want so much to return to my hobbies, but it looks like there’s a very thick wall between me and my crochet and hobbies.

I could do crochet so easily before… And spent entire evenings reading… Help.

I have treatment with therapy and pediatric, and I drink antidepressants too. I have complained this with they some months ago, it got better, but now it returned.

Any tips ?

Have you tried mindfulness meditation or guided meditation?

Honestly? Same. If you’re a Christian, the best advice I can give you is to pray abt it! Even if you’re not though, I’m still praying for you!

hm. whenever that sorta thing happens to me, I draw or paint.

I don’t decide what I’m doing but I just take the colors and spread them in the page doing anything. It feels kind of relaxing, it doesn’t take a lot of focus, and it’s like taking your angry and tiredness out. There are some drawings or painting therapy thingies on youtube too.

hmm, i wonder if pinterest would help. reading or crocheting something that you have genuine interest in is always nice.

maybe you could set a time limit for things on your phone?

i’m really sorry you have creative block right now :(

Sometimes, when I feel like this, I try something completely random and unrelated to my usual hobbies. Something low effort that yields satisfying results, like mindful doodling (try neurographic art, it’s awesome). And, this may feel difficult to do in this kind of state as well, but something that is extremely helpful is going on a walk. Interacting with nature always always calms the brain and body, and observing it is a great way to revive inspiration. But most importantly, the goal isn’t to find a way to crochet or read again; it’s to find a way to return to the present moment.

I fold paper stars when I can’t focus on anything else or I’m restless or overwhelmed. It helps ground me.

I hope something in these tips helps somehow, but remember that I only listed examples. The idea is to escape from the mental prison that boxes you in. These are just some ways I do that.

Mm when something like that happens to me I usually find a project that I want to do not something I HAVE to do just something I WANT to do or just give it a rest I’m sure once you take a break and instead of forcing yourself you might be able to get into the groove again:D

Hey, first and foremost, I want you to give yourself some grace. It’s okay to experience burnout and take a break. If it’s not bringing you joy, don’t force it! Let this be a time where you explore other potential hobbies or things that bring you joy. You might find something equally as enjoyable!

Secondly, I know personally how much a depressive episode sucks. It’s easy to get into sneaky hate spirals when you’re in one. Those times are especially important to give yourself some grace. If you only have the energy to muster to watch Ranma in the evening, that’s okay! But I do recommend reaching out to resources if it gets to the point where you think it’s interfering with your life too much. Sometimes medications need adjusting, new therapies (or even therapists) need tried.

Wishing you the best. You’ll make great things again when you’re ready.
