crochet hat for dogs

i love my dog and making him wear costumes (my favorite is a banana one because it has a nub just like him because his tail is docked) and i want to make him a hat to wear, but I can’t find a pattern that isn’t super confusing or too big/small for him. here’s a picture of him for reference with a hat that I attempted to make without a pattern.

can anyone recommend a good pattern that would fit him? thanks :D

(he had to be held back because he was forced to wear it)
