Crochet HOT TAKES

Hiii guysss
What are your crochet/knitting-related HOT TAKES

mine are:

  1. Crocheting clothing is NOT hard
  2. Weaving in ends is even worse than frogging mohair
And 3. That mohair is soft (NOT itchy)

Agree? or disagree? :winking_face_with_tongue:

Sooo yeah have fun guys!

  1. its not hard, it just takes dedication.
  2. frogging mohair is worse in my opinion, especially if your making amigurumi :sob:
  3. yes.

mine are magic rings aren’t that hard, and small hooks are underrated. I guess I don’t have that many!

  1. Making a blanket isn’t hard it’s just time consuming
  2. Fluffy yarn is harder to work with than micro chrochet
  3. Making a sweater isn’t harder than frogging a hole blanket

Ohh also buying a bunch of yarn with no intended purpose is straight up overconsumption and should not be normalizes

I agree with your first one (I’m making a sweater rn xD), idk about your other two because I haven’t worked with mohair yet. mine are:

  1. anyone who wants to write patterns should work on their skills (good tension, overall neatness, stuff like that) before trying to write patterns

and

  1. yarn hoarding isn’t funny and silly. if you don’t have any idea whatsoever of what you want to make, then don’t get it. I understand if you get a skein and use it and then you have extras, or if you get it as a gift and didn’t expect it, but if you have a choice then don’t. it’s overconsumption :/

edit:

  1. crocheters who do amigurumi need to be more aware of the method to make a less hexagonal circle, because it just looks kinda funky

  1. sewing isnt that difficult
  2. all yarn types can be sold
  3. Dont make common patterns paid
  4. amigurumi is not superior

I agree with clothing not being hard and I haven’t worked with mohair before but I think weaving in ends is torture

  1. There’s no right way to hold a hook
  2. People shouldn’t sell patterns for basic granny squares, hexagon cardigans etc
  3. Magic rings and color changing aren’t hard

I agree with all except armigurmi cause it’s the only reason I crochet before I knit but a lot of people on YouTube called crochet knit so I kept seeing cute animals that I wanted to make so I had to learn crochet just for armigurmi

  1. Susan bates is the best crochet hook
  2. Ergonomic hooks are uncomfortable.
  3. Hate red heart yarn
  4. Hobby lobby (though the owners are bad) sells the best acrylic yarn
  5. Magic rings SUCK (ch 2 always)
  6. Yarn hoarding is okay if you don’t buy out of all of the stock. I have too much yarn, but I use it. Even if I don’t know what I’m gonna make with it immediately, I WILL use it.
