So I read the article that these photos came from and it was garbage. They said you may need 100’s possibly thousands of yards and it would take years to do and you’d fill it with poly fill… Then follows up with hypothetical directions.
When these are done in real life, it’s usually by art or design students. They work over wire frames and have a team helping them.
I had a book that I think was from the 70’s that had giant crochet animals (think more like toys) the title was something like projects to let your crochet demon run wild… Well that book suggested using foam blocks wrapped in batting to stuff the animals.
Still angry that I wasted my time on reading a crochet article that doesn’t know the difference between 100’s of yards of yarn and 200 skeins of yarn.

Yes, they used yarn, not sure it’s crochet though. Maybe more like plastic canvas, wrapping yarn around wire frames.

They actually look more woven, like wicker. The walrus even had what looks like a window of some sort in the front where there is bigger holes. The horse is certainly woven. The Buffalo/bull thing is tufted… Like carpet

I commented on it, well see if they post it. If you notice, all of the photos are copyright to the site… Either they went all over to take these photos or they generated them.
