howdy folks! this summer, I’ve decided that I’m buying a new bed frame. I’ve had the same one for 10 years and it’s broken in several places. my current bed frame lays flat against the ground, so nothing can go under it, but the new one im looking at has space underneath for some totes and things. i was thinking of crocheting a small rug to go under it since i haven’t had one in years. what sort of yarn should i use for it? i was thinking about t-shirt yarn, but I’m not sure where to buy it. if any of yall have made one before, any tips or patterns? thanks!
Sounds cool! Please post updates, I haven’t made anything like this sry
if not updates, i will at least post the finished rug
Excited to see it do you know what pattern you are going to use (if one)
i haven’t looked for one yet, but maybe I’ll do like star or a simple circle. it depends on the yarn
Yeah good point
I would say bernat or tshirt!
I would use fabric strips, 2" wide (M-9mm hook) all single crochet.

this is so helpful, thank you!
I’m going to make that cat pattern thanks!
This is a Hobby Lobby pattern! It says what type of yarn and how much to get. It’s not t-shirt yarn it’s blanket yarn but it’s a rug pattern so I figured I’d still let you know about it.
oh yay! I’ve been trying to transition to hobby lobby due to the whole joanns debacle, thanks!
For the fabric, you can go to your local 2nd-hand store and pick up used sheets and cut or tear into 2" strips. I get them for as little as $1 for twin and $3 for king!! I wash and disinfect (Im a germ-a-fob, haha). Dry, iron, fold & cut. The article shows how to “tie” them together into a very long piece (then ball) of fabric yarn. I don’t pay attention to sheet color because Rite dye works great for almost any color I want. I use a plastic bucket from the dollar store to soak in dye (be sure to use gloves … or you can spend the next two weeks with green hands (like I did, lol)).
GG
that’s a great idea! im also a huge germaphobe so I’d definitely disinfect if i went that route. the dyes open lots of color options, I’ll definitely look into this, thanks!!
You’re welcome!
Omg I am in the middle of making a rug! I am making it out of loop yarn to get a more flexible and softer feel. I am currently free-handing this so I didn’t write a pattern. Anywho good luck with the rug!
Yes, you should definitely post updates! You should probably use either a cool piece, but I feel like T-shirt look really cool
what is a cool piece? sorry I’m a tad confused
Oh oops, it was a typo. I meant to say acrylic.
ooooh im a bit nervous to use loop yarn
