Crochet Steering Wheel Cover?

So I’m thinking about making a crochet steering wheel cover for my car and have seen that it’s risky to actually drive with one since yarn isn’t exactly anti-slip. What I was thinking to accommodate for that was to somehow glue or sew what I crochet onto an actual steering wheel cover. Is this a good idea or should I drop the crochet cover all together?

I think if you could find a thin enough cover, this sounds like a cool idea!

You could probably attach some rubber grippy things onto the inside of it somehow

Try making the crochet wheel cover and add some puffy paint to the back (that touches the steering wheel) so the cover will grip the wheel

I’ve been wanting to make the same thing! My thought is making it but usuing glue dots to keep it in place or use a glue gun and put dots on the inside for grip? LMK if try thise, im in the midst of making a sweater atm.:blush:

I think I’ll make an update once I try out out. Thanks!

I think they look super cool, but I’d be worried about it slipping too. Also if the cover is too heavy (which I’d doubt because it’s yarn) it can disrupt how it works or something like that because it’s a certain weight (idrk, I’m not much of a car person. I just saw someone say same line that somewhere).

I didn’t think of that, thank you! I think I’ll use some smaller yarn then so it won’t be as heavy :)

Not sure if somebody already said this but you can make the cover then with a hot glue gun you can glue some dots or lines on the back of the cover.

I also thought of something else. I don’t know if the hot glue or any type of glue would ruin the steering wheel because if it does it could de value the car potentially… you’d probably have to do some research into that though

Well I don’t think you’d hot glue it directly to the car, just add dots if hit glue to the inside of the project, let it dry, and have them function as grips!

Oo, I didn’t think of that! I wonder if that would work…?
