Crocheting backwards/inside out?

Hello, fairly new to crocheting, I’ve completed maybe 5 projects and am working on another now… however, I feel like I’ve noticed that everytime I’m working on something and following along with a video, I notice I’m working from the inside, while everyone works from the outside if that makes sense? I also think my patterns look so much nicer from the inside of my projects and not on the outside… maybe I’m crazy ? Lol. Does it look right to you? I wish I knew someone to actually sit with me and make sure I’m doing everything right!

Added a photo of a little hat I made, Where again, the inside of the hat looks so clean… but not the outside. It’s just bulkier looking outside. Is this just how it goes or am I working backwards somehow? TIA! (I couldn’t ass more than one photo :smiling_face_with_tear:)

I had a similar problem when I started making plushies. I discovered that while crocheting the item naturally turns towards me, so the right side is inside and so I just make sure that once I get to a certain point such as after a few rounds of the same stitch count or decreased rounds I turn it right side out. Just make sure to turn it right side out before the opening gets too small.
