DAY 1 of embroidering a canvas!

Hello Ribblrs! I recently bought a paint and embroider canvas set from flying tiger (for only £1!) and I’ve decided to do updates on the embroidering! This is my first time embroidering so any tips are appreciated! I painted the canvas yesterday and started the embroidering today so yeah. Anyways here’s a pic of my progress:

yes the pic is very wide as I’m on an iPad
Anyways to not crowd the community with new posts, I’ll be replying to this post with updates! I won’t be updating every day as school is starting soon and I’m busy. If you want to see all the new updates please put this post on “watching” by scrolling to the bottom and tapping the word “normal”, then choose the “watching” option from the drop down menu. I don’t wanna tag people all the time lol
Also are there any tricks for threading a needle easily? It takes me like a good 5 mins to thread it

I’ve never embroidered but that’s super cool! And I don’t have any tips on threading a needle it’s almost as if I’m physically incapable of threading a needle

Ok, this is kinda gross, but…
To thread the needle, wet your fingers (i usually just use spit), pinch the thread about a quarter inch from the end, then run your fingers down to the end. This compresses the threads and makes them stick together so that they don’t fray when you put them in the needle.

Yes that is something I do but with glue! It also keeps the ends stiff if the thread falls out again! (That seems like a very large needle tho)

Yeah I use this too- it’s probably the easiest and quickest way in my opinion

Ive never done embroidery before but I have a kit somewhere in my house… Also, that looks a lot like punch needle.

Tysm!!

I’ll definitely be trying that, thx!!!

Ohh ok! The glue sounds really cool and more long lasting

Cool! I know it’s definitely not punch needle - I think I’m using the stem stitch to embroider it?

Yes, I think you are using the stem stitch.

Thank you so much! It will take a while haha but I’m so excited to see the result! My stitches have been a little questionable but it’s not too bad, thanks for the encouragement!

Hi everyone, this is DAY 2! I managed to finish outlining the whole shape and I started outlining the centre! It’s a bit harder as the directions of the stitches change so quickly but I shall persevere!
