This does sound fun! The first 2 weeks of September might be hard for me to participate. But I’d enjoy joining in when I am able! :two_hearts:

I can’t believe September is already here, but I’m so excited because that means it’s officially time for Stashbust September (SBS)!

If you’re confused, please see the first post
here which outlines the entire concept OR feel free to ask questions/send me a chat if you need any clarification! I’ve also updated the initial post with the entire month’s prompts, for anyone who likes to plan ahead!

This first week of our Stashbusting challenge the focus is on WEARABLES which encompasses a whole host of options for you. Some examples of wearables would be clothing, bags, jewelry, scarves, hats, socks, gloves, shawls, and various other accessories.

You can go as big or small as you want with your wearable; use any colors or weight of yarn you feel like, follow a pattern or freehand it. You don’t have to finish your project, as what’s most important here is making progress. You’re also welcome to use the same project for multiple prompts, if relevant, so if you want to tackle a bigger wearable but are worried about time constraints, don’t sweat it!

The goal of this month-long exercise is simply to challenge ourselves to use yarn we already have to create and is meant to be fun - please please please don’t stress yourself out over it. :revolving_hearts:

I’ll update in the morning with options and examples from Ribblr’s pattern library, but remember you’re not required to use any of those patterns (or a pattern at all :scream:), they’re purely for inspo. If you already know the project you want to tackle and/or the yarn you’re going to use for this week’s prompt, sound off in the comments!

bonus prompts

In addition to regular prompts, bonus prompts are a fun way to learn more about one another and connect (responses to these are not required to participate in SBS). This week’s bonus prompt is an invitation to share your stash (or the specific yarn you’re trying to use up) and/or any particular goals you have for the first phase of this challenge.

Are you using this opportunity to reclaim your craft space from encroaching yarn? Purging your collection of pesky skeins? Getting more organized? Market prepping? Seeking inspiration or motivation? Want to engage more with the community? Hoping to step outside of your comfort zone? Just for funsies? Something else entirely?!

Feel free to share with us!

I’ll be destashing from my: WIPs and Yarns

My goal(s): To finish the WIP and/or finish the skeins for this WIP

The WIP: A knit shawl , here’s the current photo from my WIP. Click here for pattern on YouTube

Yarn(s): Lion Brand - Boogie Nights in High Roller (3 skeins)

I’m still on the first skein. It’s hard to capture the color of the yarn, but it does feel soft, this yarn is solely for the WIP so hopefully it’s the exact amount! Or at the very least whatever’s leftover is enough to make something else

Needles: Using Susan Bates circular knitting needles US 11/8.0mm - 24 inch/61 cm

I’ll for sure update when I finish the shawl or at the end of the week, maybe when I finish a skein and show some progress to see how far along that skein went

Love the little structured breakdown - such organization. It’s coming along beautifully, btw. That’s a gorgeous color from what I can see, and I really like the look of the stitches/lace with the bulkier yarn.

I’m working on a bunny hat for my brother for his birthday, so this is perfect!? I’m using a yarn that I had no idea what to do with, but thought this would be perfect

Ohh that’s a great idea! Sounds like a super cozy project ^.^

That’s so sweet, and I’m glad it worked out well with the challenge!!! I’m excited to see the hat and the yarn you went with!

Thanks  I wasn’t sure how it would come out with bulkier yarn but since far it looks good!

I’ve got a cardigan I need to finish. So happy I can join in this week

Don’t tell, but I think I actually prefer it with the bulkier yarn :speak_no_evil:  Seriously, though, it does look great and don’t you just love when you sort of roll the dice and things actually turn out well?

Woohoo!!! I’m happy this theme is actually working out well for some of you! ^.^ Eager to see your cardigan progress :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Going to keep adding to this specific reply as I gather more patterns, but just a cursory perusal of Ribblr has some great options (both free and paid) if you’re looking for inspo. If you need help finding this post again, just jump to post 1 where I’ll be updating with links to make things easier to find.

Reminder: you don’t have to use any of these paterns, they’re just examples of the theme!

I can understand why; such a unique design (honestly so many of Ayano’s are)! I bought it as soon as it was released  Your version came out awesome!

Week 6 of the challenge is actually related to working with color, and I think it would be an awesome option for that prompt, too!
