Wanted to post the challenge a little earlier as I’ll be super busy today, but I’ll spin for a winner tomorrow so people have an extra day to get their posts in for last week’s Toys theme. :heartbeat:

Unintentionally planned this week’s theme to start alongside the Autumn Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere (Spring Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere), so happy seasonal shift to you all!

It’s rather fortuitous because September 22nd-29th we will focus on Seasonal makes!

Examples: Nature’s seasons , holiday-themed, weather-specific, upcoming cultural or religious observances, etc.

  • The item can be from any category, but should reflect the current season or time of year wherever you are in the world!

  • Although my inspo post will heavily favor Autumn, the cooling weather, and Halloween (seasonal to where I live), your item can be for any season you deem relevant to you.

You’ll notice there weren’t specifc examples listed and that’s because it can be from any genre of item, but I’ll still share samples from a variety of categories in tomorrow’s inspo post to help get the creative juices flowing.

This week’s bonus prompt(s): What’s your favorite time of year and why? Does the time of year impact your crafting in any way?

Reminder: You can find more about this Stashbusting challenge or easily find Weekly Theme and Inspo posts on this Stashbusting Masterpost

I’ll be destashing from my: Yarns

My goal(s): To hopefully get pretty far and use up the yarn I have for my project

The Project(s): For this seasonal inspo it’ll be an October/Halloween seasonal item! I’ll be making my Halloween costume, a plague doctor! I’ll be working on a black cloak and perhaps the mask as well if I have the time.

Yarn(s): Lion Brand Wool Ease Worsted Yarn

Crochet hook: I’m not sure yet, going to test different hooks to see what I like best for the project

My favorite time of year would be when it’s Autumn through Winter, not only is my birthday coming up during Autumn but Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite holidays and it’s finally cold :joy: It does impact my crafting since I start trying to find and make gifts for Christmas for my family

Results for Third destash (week 15-21)

So I managed to finish knitting the tentacle parts for my knit octopus just have to sew them together and make the head/body. I also managed to finish my lemon meringue cow! I finished a cake of the unlabeled light yellow yarn and the skein of unlabeled white yarn, here’s the journal for my lemon meringue cow!

I did end up finishing the other two unlabeled light yellow yarn cakes so no more light yellow! I triple stranded the light yellow and double stranded the green with a 5 mm hook. Albeit I had ran out earlier so had to modify the pattern. I made Mini belly lemon pattern

I also managed to destash this cake of unlabeled green yarn (If I had to guess it’s a cotton yarn, either Peaches & Creme or Lily’s Sugar’n Cream) by double stranding with a 5 mm and making this Baby bub triple stranded some of my other unlabeled yellow yarn, double stranded brown - red heart and double stranded bernat super saver green yarn which I also finished! The dark green which I believe is cotton ran out fast so I made it look like the leaves on a stem, I need to get more green yarn now since I’ve run out a long with white :joy:

So so cute!! The little smile makes it even more darling!

Oh my gosh that’s going to be SO COOL! I can’t wait to see it with the glow in the dark yarn, too!!! :scream:

Oh my goodness, way to go! You did so many projects and worked through quite a bit of your stash this week!

Happy Well Done GIF by The Valentines
They all came out adorable and the mods you made look so natural I would never have guessed they weren’t the original
design

Thank you for your sweet journal on Lulu! She came out precious as ever! I can’t even tell you how elated I was to see that notification and your photo!

Your costume sounds EPIC. I hope we get to see the final look!

I definitely feel you on the favorite season. In my part of California in particular, it doesn’t really start to cool down until mid-October, so I treasure as much of this season as I can get! It’s lovely you make gifts for your family for the holiday - they must get very excited when they see a a gift labeled from you :heart_hands:

Sorry for the belated inspo post! As usual, you’re not required to do any of these patterns, they’re just to generate ideas for anyone who is still mulling it over!

You also can choose to represent the time of year wherever you are however you please - your items don’t have to be from the Fall/Halloween genre.

Ugh, that autumn tea sweater has been in my wishlist foreverrr. I’m obsessed with it, but all my knitting cables are being used so I can’t start any new projects with circular needles:sob:

It’s such a lovely sweater! Bummer about your circs being occupied :sleepy: What a dream it would be to have every size needle and cable at hand, and in duplicate! I don’t suppose you have some exxxxxxxtra long dpns hanging around ?

Ah, one can wish lol:sob:

Excited to share I’m finally able to contribute to this challenge beyond cheerleading and actually showcase a couple of my own efforts this month

I finished the blanket I had been working on for our Home Goods theme! I actually liked the feel and appearance so much that I decided to keep the blanket, and in doing so I changed the colors up a bit to resonate more with me. It’s still a sizeable blanket, probably on par with a lapghan rather than a throw. One of my cats Lavender is totally smitten with it and only impededed my progress moderately by sitting on it while I was trying to work on it. See exhibit A below.

She’s extremely happy she can now lounge on it unencumbered by my efforts. I’ll have to get a photo soon.

As far as my destash efforts, I managed to use up nearly the entirety of the orange and beige. The green and gold are just enough that I think I can use them for a softie. One thing that became evident to me after finishing is that I have no idea how to photograph a blanket, so please enjoy my humble attempts here.

The pattern was super simple and works up relatively quickly due to the blanket yarn. It has a nice weight to it and an attractive stitch that takes it from basic to beautiful, imo. Def would recommend if you need a sort of mindless crochet project or something that gives your brain the satisfaction of quick and visible progress (or if you need to make a dent in your true crime catalog).

I also finished up my project for our Toys theme! My goal is to make all of the other cows from the dessert cow collab, so I started with the adorable Key Lime Pie cow from @SporkyGirl !

Pattern here:

Enjoyed making this little cutie! I’m honestly so in love with the tiny pie - it may be my favorite part!

I managed to lose yarn chicken (which was sorta a good thing for a change), but luckily I had a color close enough to my pie color to complete the cow. :sunglasses:

As for the seasonal challenge, I’m actually going to try and work on a pattern design :face_with_peeking_eye: We will see how that goes, as the weeks seem to only get more busy the deeper we get into the year, but I have a few different backup plans!

Ofc!! I was so bummed when I wasn’t able to test, I had to jump on it when given the chance!

Thank you!!! They’re very Meisha colors aside from the beige, haha. And tysm!! Sporky did a great job with the pattern!

I forgot to post it, but here’s my make for week three.
It was a pattern test for @RukasAnimalTreasures and I managed to get rid of some green yarn with a color I don’t really like (I used it for the stem, so it isn’t visible from the front).
It will be a gift, as most things I make are gifts. I also make things for myself, but not for selling (selling ā€œtoysā€ isn’t that easy here). Last thing I made for myself has to be a cyclops.
