ok, I don’t understand these instructions. I bought it before
I realize that the patterns from Annie’s Attic/Club and Leisure Arts suck. Forward Pass 1 is what I do not understand.

Oh sweetie, I know how to do that. It’s the specific stitch - diamond lattice. Like in crochet we refer to stitches such as bruges, broomstick, jasmine, star stitch, etc.

When I looked for the diagonal lattice stitch (since that’s what the pattern calls it, not diamond?) I came across a Reddit thread that had this video linked. From the result at the end of the video, it’s the same stitch as in your pattern’s picture
