Are you referring to the handmade items that crafters sell on here? I’m also curious on that front but I’m a little confused why selling a handmade items has to do with writing your own patterns unless you just want to sell from your own patterns and not others?

If you want you could just sell from patterns on here that allow you to and decide later based on the results if you want to make your own patterns and sell the makes here or not

Not personally but i did notice that designers get a small commission when you sell something made with their patterns on here so feel free to experiment by making and selling things from my patterns to see if thats true

I think i worded my question weird, I was asking if people ever actually got sales on here for their physical items!

That is what is called makes here, items made from Ribblr patterns. I don’t think you can sell any other physical items. And it has to be from a Ribblr pattern as far as I know. @Ribblr can correct me if I’m wrong

That’s mostly true! Though you can sell make for a pattern not on a Ribblr with Ribblr+ as long as you’ve added it to your library.

Thanks for the clarification

Is there a steady stream of buyers that want the Makes over purchasing a digital pattern and making it themself?

Sorry to reply to an old thread, but how do you add a non Ribblr pattern to your library (if you can sell makes from a non Ribblr pattern)?

That’s available for Ribblr+ Gold and Platinum only (which you are!)

Head over to your patterns library and find the plus button:

The pattern is not my own, I’m not its owner is it still ok to add it?

Do I just copy it’s URL? I’m not sure how to add it to the page you indicated

Yes you can, this is a pattern you own and it’s for your own use. You essentially gain access to our software to make it interactive.

Here’s how your make it interactive: Ribblr Help Center | How can I upload PDF patterns and convert them to Ribblr ePatterns?

You can also just attach the PDF to the first line if you aren’t ready to make it interactive yet.

Just so i understand what youve said here, they have a pdf or url pattern by someone else (they dont know who) and they’re allowed to turn that into a ribblr pattern? That doesn’t sound right to me but perhaps i misunderstood? I thought part of the original point of ribblr patterns were that they were more difficult to steal than pdfs, but if you start with a pdf that isnt yours then that sounds very dodgy. Is there no way to sell the makes without uploading someone elses patterns??

Maybe if just a picture of the pattern is uploaded without the instructions, makes can still be sold using it? I don’t think the patterns are being stolen if they’re only uploaded to a person’s private library via Ribblr+. Nobody but the person who bought and uploaded the pattern would be able to see it, so it’s not being shared.

If they were uploading other people’s patterns to their shop then that would definitely be dodgy, just in case it ever accidentally got published.

Yes exactly! Seems dodgy, they should just be able to sell the item and link to the original pattern only.

I think they can do that if they “+Add pattern” to their private library using Ribblr+ (and not a shop). It’s probably possible to upload just a picture of what the pattern looks like (maybe include a link to the original in the journal), and then Makes can be sold using it.

Patterns in people’s private libraries can’t be shared with anyone.
