I dont want/understand how to set up a card payment system for craft fairs. I was wondering if only taking cash drives away potential buyers
i don’t think it does, if they take card i see it as a bonus, but i normally expect cash only
I’ve never participated in a craft fair but I have seen online and videos about people who do craft fairs mention that not everyone carries cash nowadays especially a lot of it on hand, here’s a quick post on reddit that mentions they use Square, something to look into.
But there is other options as well, I recommend looking up craft fair credit card processing or anything similar and see what pops up I searched on Google and got a ton of sites and even YouTube videos so definitely look at them when you have a chance!
I’m not sure… sorry.
but whatever you choose, gl with sales!
Generally, yes. A solid majority (over 75%) of the transactions I make at markets are card, and some of those people have said stuff like “so glad you take card because I forgot to bring cash!”
Overall, the ways I get payments are:
over 75% card, 15ish% venmo, and 5ish% cash
If you want to look into it, I’d totally recommend square for card transactions. They send you your first card reader free (you can pay for specific ones) and all you have to do is make an account to receive payments.
I’m going to echo the Square recommendations - it’s a great system.
At the very least, I would recommend setting up Venmo or PayPal or something.
BTW - I started using Square in 2012 and I’ve never had a single issue.
