Does anyone use tension rings?

Ive been debating bout getting a tension ring and i found some wire and decided to make one and i dunno if its just how i made it or what but i dont think im a fan. What are yall’s oppinions on tension rings? Actual tool or over hyped accessory?

WOAHHHH that’s so cool how did you do that :sob: and i’m pretty sure most people here don’t like them. idk… i think they’re unnecessary but when i use yarn like velvet/chenille or rhss it like cuts into my finger (since velvet/chenille has a thin strand in the middle and rhss is js… rough.) and makes a groove… i mean not permanent but it’s kinda annoying. i lowk need like a slik glove for my LH just for that LMAOOO

It’s overhyped in my opinion. They’re quite useless to me :woman_shrugging:t2:

I got some for Christmas, but I hardly use them cause I just find it more difficult :sob:

I used them a lot at first, but I’ve found that I can control tension just fine as long as I’m wearing a support glove - the extra friction between the cloth of the glove and the yarn prevents slipping.

(By “support glove” I mean a fingerless compression glove used to prevent repetitive motion injuries.)

When i don’t forget to or I misplace it then, yes!

I refuse to crochet without mine. Granted mine isn’t technically made for it, and is an old ring I’ve had that just works really well as one lol. Without it my index finger cramps up really bad.

I’ve also made a couple with wire, but after a while of absolutely abusing it the wire gets bent out of shape and I need to make a new one.

I’ve been crocheting for so long I’ve got my tension down so I don’t really have use for them
