Dollar store modeling clay crochet handle FAIL

So I learned the hard way that Dollar Tree modeling clay…
a: does not dry and
b: does not bake.

Is polymer clay my best bet for diy handles?
What else have you used that doesn’t require extra skills?

Thanks,

Bummer. I bought polymer clay from dollar general. Haven’t tried it yet though. I hope mine works. I am a bit nervous about it. I shouldn’t be. I’m sure it will be fun, but hopefully actually works. Here’s a link that helped me learn more. https://youtu.be/oULvx7RAbX0?si=Cxu6EFcfrklvBFdQ
And please, share your makes when you get them done.

sculpy polymer clay! its cheap-ish at hobby lobby, micheals, joanns, every craft store really, and it bakes to harden

Definitely Sculpy! If you want it to be lightweight but also hard to break, use Sculpy Soufflé or Sculpy Premo.

I make lots of clay things, and I would say it depends on what you’re making! For earrings, and keychains, I use polymer clay, specifically, Sculpey and Fimo for big sculpts, such as trinket dishes, and little random things to put on your bookshelf, I use air dry clay specifically DAS and Crayola! :grinning::sparkles:
