Double pointed crochet hooks

Am I the only one who doesn’t get along with double pointed crochet hooks?

What I’m saying is, if I use it, I may end up using the wrong end, and not even realise it.

Huh. Haven’t you? I think they’re only found in knitting/crochet magazines that I used to buy.

I’ve only ever considered using double ended crochet hooks for tunsian crochet to work in the round, never even thought for regular crochet! Definitely could see how it might get confusing and I definitely probably would make a mistake lol :joy:

I think each end is a different size, like a D on one side and and E on the other. At least the ones I own are that way

look up crohooking or crochet on the double. ADDED look these up on YouTube

It doesnt matter which end you use. Double ended have tge same size throughout. They are anotger way of performing tunsian or tapestry crochet, you keep loops on hook like you do with knitting, tgen when to tge end, you loop over & pull through a loop at a time removing yarn from hook and start over. Although short, they keep your stitches more uniform than the hook attached to a nylon coil.

Hope that makes you not worry about which side youre using if just crocheting regular with one, lol.

In my hands, my hands wouldnt be safe. I stab my self with my normal crochet hooks on accident as it is!

Actually, the ends of the hook are different. Which is easy to get the tension mixed up, when making plushies or whatever.

I was just looking online and there are sets of double ended hooks with an ergonomic handle in the center. These are different sizes on each end; advertised as a less bulky way to carry all your sizes- “2 hooks in one”. However, the one pictured in @laurascraftedcollectibles original post is the tunsian type I spoke of earlier. Her’s is 3.5mm on both ends.

You use a knitting needle point protector to protect your hands from the end of the hook not in use.
