Double stranding?

Hello!
So, I got some bernat velvet yarn recently, and now I’ve decided to double strand it with some rainbow acrylic yarn. But Idk which hook I should use - 5mm or 6mm?
I have no idea about weights, so y’all get a pic of the yarn hehe..

And label..

When I tried the 5mm hook it was pretty hard crocheting too.. but I don’t want it holey..
I’m making a new Misty the dragon, mostly cause why not hehe (she’s hopefully coming out the 30th btw!)

-Duck :>

Edit: Everybody said 5mm so I’ll use it.. ty y’all!

hmmmm i think a 5mm as it would work better and you would get more tighter+neater stitches!

I normally use 6 mm hook (but with other yarn). When I used that size hook to misty a lot holes came with normally didn’t happen to me. So I’ll go for the 5 mm.

Maybe a 5.5 mm hook because it’s the inbetween of 6 and 5? I dunno, just something to think about.

I don’t have one… :’/

Oh! Sorry.. Maybe you could try 5 again with a little less pressure, or maybe six, but it probably will be a little loose, maybe have tight pressure for 6.

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, because.. I don’t really pay attention to my hook size unless somethings really wrong.

definitelt 5mm.

Whatever size it takes so that there isn’t any holes as everyone’s tension is different.

Yeah, i feel like a 5mm would be good for that. It’s gonna be super pretty :]

I’d love an update on how this comes out! I’ve been wanting to do this and I got some similar yarn so I’d love to see the outcome!

I have that exact same rainbow yarn. I’m making an elephant with it but haven’t really been working on it
