Eye Indents

Hey guys,
I was wondering what methods you guys use to create eye indents in your amigurumi projects. I’ve seen so many but I can never seem to get it to bunch correctly.

I usually just take some yarn threaded to a needle and make a little cross stitch by each eye that I pull tight. The indents are little, but they look pretty good imo.

I’ve tried that but it makes my safety eyes look loose? Maybe I’m just doing it wrong.

I used this technique one time and it worked pretty well:

Do you just attach/ tie it to a stitch on the opposite side?

I followed the instructions in the pattern but if the yarn isn’t boucle, then you might need to do something like pass one strand through a nearby stitch and then out the same hole as it’s pair before tying (so the knot isn’t visible).

This is what it says in the pattern:

Ensure that both strands from the SAME safety eye are in close proximity to each other when they exit the back of the head to make it easier to tie a knot (but they should not come out of the same hole). After this is done, you should have 4 strands of yarn coming out the back of the head, each exiting from their own hole. Stuff head, making sure there is stuffing above and below the criss-crossed eye indentation strands.

Finish off the eye indentation: grab the two strands of yarn that correlate with one safety eye. Pull back to desired indentation and tie a double knot to secure. Repeat with other eye. Weave in ends.
