Farewell JOANN Fabrics

Goodbye JOANN Fabrics. You were loved by many and will be missed by all.

I took a drive down to the closest Joann’s to me yesterday. They were supposed to close at the beginning of April but someone told me that they were still open.

When I got there, there was a little hand written note on the door that said ‘Closed for Good :(’.
I sat in my car for a while, trying to process that I would really never go to a JOANN’s again, when I saw them take down the going out of business banner from the outside of the store.

It was sad, but I think it filled me with a little bit of closure. It was no longer when will this happen, it has happened. It will be okay.

Goodbye JOANN Fabrics. I’ll remember you every time I grab some big twist from my closet.

My closest Joann’s is an hour and a half drive. They weren’t supposed to be closed until today, the 31st. So last Saturday I took that drive and when I got there all the lights were out and it was completely bare. I was heartbroken I didn’t get to go one last time. :sob:

I went to Joann’s two days before it closed. No more yarn, all inventory moved to the front and selling all the fixtures. The only things they were selling were Christmas wreaths, wooden letters, mushroom pots, and other small stuff. I bought a wreath some rope and a letter so I wouldn’t come back empty handed. I’m just glad I could be a part of Joann’s and I will miss them dearly.

My store closed on the 29th. I absolutely loved working there:broken_heart: My team was the best:sob:
Our rep came and gave us a little speech about how hard we worked and that there was a reason our store was the last to close in the whole state<3
I cried driving home from my last shift lol.

Goodbye Joann’s…. you will be missed by fellow crocheters, knitters, and crafters alike. :broken_heart::sob: But Big Twist is supposedly going on sites now. Idk currently which one(s) but all I know is that some yarn sites will be carrying them. All I know is that I think I’m gonna start going to Hobby Lobby and Micheal’s for yarn now…

If you can try to stay clear of Hobby Lobby.

:sob::sob: I found out they were closing the same month I picked up crochet as a hobby. I managed to go twice before the official close.

Ok I’ve only looked at Hobby Lobby once for yarn but currently I’m just looking for white blanket yarn lol. Joann was the only place that had any near me

Walmart carries white bernet blanket yarn. I haven’t had a chance to check out Michael’s or Hobby lobby though.

I had gone a few weeks ago. Up until then the one in my town had closed due to being short staffed. Minus all the closing signs almost everything in there looked normal.
Good bye Joann :yarn::sob:

i was so heartbroken too! my store closed earlier this week. i went in there the day before they closed and they had nothing i would need to buy. no yarn, no fabric, no tools, no art supplies… i took a video just because it was so surreal. most of the store was blocked off with caution tape and completely empty. you could only walk about 10 feet into the store before you couldn’t go any further. joann was always my favorite place to go to and i lived right by it. thankfully, there’s also a michael’s here, so i’ll still be able to get yarn, but my favorite yarn was always big twist posh. i’ve been picking and choosing the projects i use my posh yarn on since i don’t know if i’ll be able to get it anymore (i know there was one store that picked up big twist yarn, but their shipping prices were so high :sob:). currently trying to transition into loving sweet snuggles, but i think posh was a weight 5 and sweet snuggles is a weight 7, so it’s just not the same!

farewell joann, you really will be missed!! :broken_heart:
