Favorite weight/brand of yarn to work with?

Hi! I’ve been wondering what brands and weights of yarn people have been using! Is there any that you have liked using a lot lately? I hope y’all are having a good day today! :yellow_heart:

Hello,
Well honestly depends on your budget and experience. I tried all types of yarn and projects and spent a lot money just to give away a lot of yarn. Now I know what yarn I like and what works best for me personally. Hobby Lobby yarn I find myself loving, Especially Crafter’s Secret and the I Love this yarn/cotton. I also enjoy Yarnspiration Caron One Pound, Bernat Blanket I find getting more yarn for the price is worth it and stocking up when sales are going on. Yarn is not cheap and to find the brand and type is not always easy either. Just depends on you, the project your working on. Joann’s is my go to store, Michaels generic brand yarn is really good too. All the yarn I use is Weight #4, or super bulky. Go with works with your budget, Big twist value yarn is good, as well. I hope this helps some.

My favorite yarn to work with lately are:
Hobbi Baby Snuggle (super bulky)
Scheepjes Catona (fingerling)

For medium weight, I also love 1 strand cotton/poly blend such as Caron Cakes Blossom, or Lion Brand Mandala Ombré.

I absolutely love this yarn at hobby lobby! It’s perfect for amigurumi.

It depends on what I’m doing I like
Scheepjes Catona (fingerling/4ply)
Scheepjes sweet treat (2ply)
But recently I’ve been using all the random DK & aran (various brands) from my cupboard to make some space and also try some larger projects. I’ve just ordered a box of Sirdar Happy Chenille that I’m so excited to crack into,it’s so soft.

I love this yarn tends to be where I find the price/quality balance to be when If it’s for
selling. A bit of fire can give it the nice finish. :scream:

I mix bernat and one from Walmart I can recall the name of for chunky. Surprisingly the Walmart brand tends to be nicer but way less colors.

For gifts I’ll grab nicer yarn but pick based on what I’m making.

Weight 4 is my favorite weight yarn, Red Heart Super Saver if I had to pick one brand. I also like Big Twist, Caron and Craftsmart brands. Walmart/Mainstays is ok but a bit rougher on the hands.

Don’t judge… but I just buy whatever super chunky yarn I can find from the dollar store :sob:

weight 4 is definitely my favorite and as far as brand goes i always go for the michael’s craftsmart next to the caron brand it’s definitely the softest acrylic yarn i’ve ever worked with

I don’t have a particular favourite brand, but I do enjoy using DK and sock weight. I’m not big on anything thicker but have tried aran and chunky.

I use a lot Hobbii King Cotton Cones, because I do a lot of big projects and that type of yarn comes handy because you don’t have to link a lot of balls together. However, for now my all time favourite yarn to work with is bamboo, it’s too soft!! Give it a try

I typically use a 4 weight yarn bc I find it rly versatile! I get my yarn from Micheals, and I typically use loops and threads since it’s relatively cheap where I live

I feel like I’ve answered this before, but here goes again
I love using Loops and Threads Woolike (Fingering weight, but I also use held double for sport or dk weight)
For Worsted, which I like for blanket or winter, I like HB I Love This Yarn, Lion Brand Jeans, Craft Smart Value
I wanna try coboo and some other bamboo blends (not wool), but haven’t yet
