Felt cutting tips?

Sometimes I scroll on Ribblr, bored and in need of a new project (despite having over 90 wips)

And I feel so envious of everyone’s felt skills. I’m very bad at cutting felt to the right shape or size, even WITH a tracing line or some other guide.

I was curious if anyone had any tips to offer me?

When you cut, keep a long, continuous cut, don’t do small cuts all around, instead just do a long cut, and when you need to curve, just carefully turn. You might be able to find a YouTube video about it.

I use my Cricut for most

I’ve never done it but if you have trouble cutting them the same size you can hold the two pieces together to cut it!

That’s why I really love using my rotary blade for felt!

That’s a good idea! I have one but I’ve never used it.

It gives a slightly different look, but I tend to needle felt details, rather than cut out sheets of felt. You have a lot more control over the final shape, and depending on what yarn you’ve used, you can felt straight onto the piece

I feel u! Genuinely felt is so difficult sometimes! I tend to use fabric scissors cuz it gives me a cleaner line and easier cut, but shape wise just try and keep a steady line I assume!

It’s much easier, plus you can stack two peices on top of each other so if you need multiple, they all come out looking the same!

My best attempt is to use a separate piece of paper and draw over the templates. Then cut them out, and cut the felt around the shapes.

Using big and sharp sewing scissors is what works for me, that way you can cut it in bigger sections if you start far back in the scissors

Cricut machine! That was my solution!
