It took me a very very long time to to get the hang of the magic ring/loop/circle. I finally found a fantastic video that helped me out a lot! She explainsit very well, shows it very clearly, and goes nice and slow. For those that are still struggling here it is:

I can do magic ring for crochet amigurumi blindfolded .. this is magic loop in knitting..

I don’t even know how to knit. I want to learn. My mom has needles. I just haven’t tried. I’m not sure what kind of needles she has.

Not to worry lol .. I’ve knitted for years well since I was about 5 so a very long time ago … . You’ll have to check what your mum has but you can still make lots of things whichever she has circular or straight .
I just wanted to crack this magic loop Because I don’t like dpns .. well I don’t mind them , it’s just like wrestling with a hedgehog

Yeah, I’m going to have to teach myself. I taught myself to crochet about 6 years ago! I’ve gotten pretty good at it in a short time. I get sloppy when I try to rush. Then I have to remind myself to slow down. I enjoy it!

Yeah , I’ve been crocheting about 15 years .. and have to slow down with Ami because you need nice tight stitches and when I rush you can tell the difference.. so I frog lots lol .
I love knitting but cant do as much as I used to , crochet is easier on the joints too.
They both have pros and cons ..
I can recommend some begginer knit cardigans and jumpers if you want when ready . Just pop me a message x
