Finished My Market!!!

Just finished my first market!!! And now I can get to other things .

I sold a range of items but my bestsellers were probably,

  • STUFFIES: Sea Turtles from The Friendly Red Fox, Mable Chickens (apparently my bigger ones weren’t as popular but still got attention). snakes surprisingly did well as well, as well as leggy frogs by @TheArtLife but some people mistook it as an octopus or monster lol. I also did bunnies but they slowly got picked off and didn’t seem so important at first glance.

  • KEYCHAINS, it can be a hit or miss and some people didn’t even touch some of them but my strawberries, car hangers, sunflowers, and daisies, and apple keychains were all ones I had to remake throughout my four days.

  • Bandanas! I used the tutorials from @PassionKnit on YouTube and she has four bandana patterns that I made in different cotton colors, as well as a range of styles.

All of the patterns I used are patterns from others as listed, the ones that aren’t I can share the link or screenshot to because they were either tutorials or free patterns on Pinterest that I used. If there’s any other questions on what I did feel free to DM me or leave a comment and I’ll try to respond reasonably .

And lastly, I got the comments everyone talks about . But there were a lot of good comments! I found it interesting that my only ‘hate’ comments were from little girls around the ages of 5-8, and got the comments of ‘what are you knitting’ or ‘oh, is this all knit’ or people just assumed it was knit overall so be weary fellow travelers.

A BIG tip I’d recommend is getting business cards with at most how to reach you and maybe what you do, ex: crochet, commissions, events. Mine were done the last day I was there because we got a couple people come up to us and ask about me doing other events at various places and since I don’t have socials I just had my crochet work email to give them so we put that on my cards and hopefully it helps. Give the customer a way to reach out for commissions or are curious or they have events, only if you’re interested. ALSO use Square to help track your purchases it was super helpful.

Overall I made around the $1,500 U.S dollar mark, I was there for four Thursdays and the booth fee was $25 (I’m pretty sure) per day we were there and it was pretty fun! I’m not that social but it was a nice break and I think everyone should try it if it could be a possibility to broaden you business skills and get that experience.

That’s so cool! I tried running a crochet market for a business project but got scared off bc of business work pressure, not enough time for crocheting, not enough demand, etc. But you are so strong for setting up your 1st market and getting over the comments. You did well to, happy for you!
