Hello everyone! I have my very first market this Saturday and I was wondering if anyone has any tips/advice on how to set up or start and carry conversations with customers?
Are there any common questions you get asked as a crochet vendor that I should be prepared for?
Also, I know there’s a small amount of mental math needed, is it anything beyond addition and subtraction? Sales tax is included in my final prices, so I won’t need to worry about that.
Thank you for any and all tips/advice!

Hello, some tips I would give you is try to look approachable and a way to set up your tables where you’ll have your crocheted stuff is have it set up to where it probably make customers come into your booth. A way you could do that is have little stands or something to have some of your smaller and cute crochet items close to the inner part of your table so people are more drawn into go see what that is because it Sparks the cuteness factor in the brain which makes people want to look and see what it is. Sorry for a little bit of psychology right there but to continue on with some tips. I don’t think you would have to do a whole bunch of math at markets I normally don’t have to. The only math I do is if someone buys more than one item I add those two items together to get the X amount that they owe. That’s really really math I do. Just remember to be confident and try to remember that you’re doing this for fun and it should be a very fun experience. Sorry for the long paragraph and hopefully this really helps you out!!

People are going to ask you what you have even though it’s right in front of their faces, but you just need to be patient and friendly. Also make sure you have price tags and/or signs, that makes it easier for you and your customers. Sometimes they want to buy something but don’t know the price, if they ask you and it’s too much they don’t want to just awkwardly say no and walk away, so make sure that doesn’t scare away your customers. Signs always help!

Good luck! I was going to do the same thing, though I’m not great at talking to people
Fake it till you make it I guess!
These are great tips, and I needed that last one. I take things too seriously and am a bit stressed out, ngl. Thank you so much!

Thought I’d give a little update! The market went great, out of everything I mostly sold stuffies and sold out of whales and octopi. It was from 12-4 and I made $440! Talking to customers was way easier than I anticipated, once they walked up, the words just came out lol. Everyone was super nice, even the people that didn’t buy things complemented my table a bunch. I had a lot of fun and might participate in another market next month
Yay I’m so happy for u also how many total things did u make (this is for me to piggy back off of because I’m doing a market soon lol)
