Hello!
As the title says, I am making my first Tunisian crochet piece (it’s just a washcloth, plain and simple).
I’m about 5 rows in and my piece keeps curling in on itself. Is this normal? Will it flatten out as I keep going?

Thank you for any advice you have

I’ve tried a bit of Tunisian before and it’s always curled, I think it’s just a natural thing. Try blocking it when you’re done! (Also i am not an expert so don’t trust my tips too much lol)

Yeah it tends to curl. You will need to block it once it’s finished.

Like in knitting some stitches cause the piece to curl
blocking usually helps or adding a crochet border

Tunisian does curl naturally and will need to be blocked. You can also try going up a hook size which sometimes lessens the curl.

It will flatten out as you go but the beginning edge will stay a little curled. Adding a simple border will fix it usually or blocking (I’ve never blocked any of my projects though
)

Hi, in my experience it is best to make the foundation chain with a hook 1 size bigger maybe even 2 depending on your tension and the stitch you use. This way shouldn’t curl as much and if it does it is very easily fixed by blocking the piece.

I’m also working on a tunisian crochet wash cloth rn! Mine curls as well. The pattern I’m using says to put a crochet border around it – I hope that will fix the curling a bit.

From what I understand that certain tunisian stitches curl more than others.
