So this happens often to me (even with the new update) when I want to get back to my patterns after looking through community, there is still a message over the icon, even though I checked all my messages and didn’t got new ones.
hmm maybe u looked at ur notifs but didnt mark them as read, so the notif is still there but hidden kinda? or theres some pms your in that has notifs?
That’s what happened to me! Once I read them, they went away.
Maybe it’s because you opened them but didn’t dismiss them? Or if there are PMs you either didn’t open them or opened them but didn’t read them.

That’s confusing, I’m not sure what to say because I haven’t noticed that happen yet. But I will watch out for it now 
Maybe you could Force Close and Restart or Log Out and Log Back In or Clear App Cache

It’s the same for me but, when I close the app, everything returns to normal 
Nope, everything’s read!
Mine does that too! It’s really annoying 
And sometimes it doesn’t show anything at all even though I have new messages
that happens to me, it clears out after you close and open the app again!
