What about a book cover? Unless she’s a kindle reader even that you could make her a tablet cover. Or a book mark

Ooh! She does like to read on her Kindle a lot

Not a crochet idea but an idea for the next year if your mom loves reading on her Kindle at night, there is a remote for that now.

I had one next year for Christmas it changed my life really. I always lay in my bed on my side with my cat on my arms and as i crochet a lot, turning many pages on my kindle at night make my wrists weakened so now i have the the remote I have less tendinitis. It’s very useful if it seems at the first time a gadget :joy:

And for a crochet idea, you can make her a hat it’s very useful too and easy to make

Okay, you may have already made your decision because there are a ton of great ideas here, but here are some things I’ve noted as great gifts (including many that I’ve given to my own mom)!

  • hats/headbands/mittens/scarves/socks/slippers
  • if she’s got long enough hair, scrunchies are fun!
  • coasters to match her decor (or that look like something fun)
  • dish cloths or dish scrubbies - if you can use good yarn for these, and maybe a pretty-to-look-at but easy pattern, they commonly become people’s all time favourite cloths to use in the kitchen! Bonus points if you make one of those kitchen towels that have a loop & button to easily go around the oven handle. Those are always big hits.
  • placemats (or a table runner if you’re feeling ambitious)
  • pot holders & trivets - I’d stay away from full-blown oven mitts because the effectiveness (and protection) come from specific materials.
  • plant pot cozy
  • tissue box cover
  • teapot cozy, if a tea drinker - would highly recommend one that leaves the handle uncovered (saves your hands from the heat when you pour) and that does the lid separately so you don’t have to constantly take the whole thing off.
  • bookmarks or book jackets
  • mug cozy
  • decor/amigurumi - if you haven’t already made her something like this (because it can definitely get overwhelming) it’s also usually a big hit
  • a loofah or soap saver bag (depends on the kind of yarn you have)
  • BIG TIME SAVERS: something with super chunky yarn. Can be a bit on the pricey side but super quick. Examples include placemats, little rugs (like bath or kitchen mats), baskets to tidy things like books or yarn, accent pillows, hats, scarves, etc.
  • if she uses reading glasses, a pretty glasses chain to be soft on her neck (using super fine yarn)
  • if she’s still wearing masks in public (idk where you’re located or personal preference so this may not be relevant for you) some ear savers - the kind with buttons to go at the back of your head
  • a soft case for her e-reader
  • on that note, cases for anything - headphones, books, glasses, hand sanitizer, tablet or laptop… I get complimented EVERYWHERE on the iPad sleeve I made myself!

I think this summarizes a lot of what other people have commented to you, too. I hope this lengthy list is helpful to you (or other readers with the same question)!
