I tested this last month, a bag using two DK yarns held together, I ended up running out of one of the colors during crocheting the body of the bag, so I switched that one to a different DK yarn I had. It ended up looking like I did it as an edging on purpose! Same thing happened with the strap, so I ended up doing half-and-half.
