This month can remind us to stand up for the rights of people and celebrate things like social inclusion and accessibility!
The colours of the disability pride flag are toned down to be accessible for some people with sensory sensitivities :) Here are what the colours mean.
Red
Physical impairments and conditions
Gold
Neurodiversity
White
Non-visible and undiagnosed impairments and conditions
Blue
Emotional and psychiatric conditions, including mental health, anxiety and depression
Green
Hearing impaired, vision impaired, audio processing and all other sensory impairments and conditions
Charcoal
The charcoal background is to represent people in the community who have experienced ableism and people who have died to it, and to protest against this
If you would like to list or otherwise discuss your disability/disabilities (diagnosed or undiagnosed!) in the comments or spread awareness, go for it :D
Regardless if you are disabled or not, we can take part in this month even if it just means sharing some knowledge for humanity :)
Love you guys! Take care and again, Happy Disability Pride Month!
I am so happy to see so many people helping spread awareness for this.
I am under gold and white, and maybe blue ig.
I have undiagnosed or half diagnosed selective mutism and it has been hurting me ever since I was old enough to have memories. I cannot speak to ppl if I feel basically any kind of negative emotion. Which led to me not having friends until recently.
And that in turn led to me having depression. I dont really wanna talk about my depression bc I am mostly over it, but if anyone wants to know more about selective mutism and how it has been for me, I’d love to share my experience if you wanna DM me. ^^
Thanks for making this post and spreading awareness! I actually didn’t know about this until @NebluaCrochet made a post about this a few days ago, so I love seeing people talking about it!
. Ngl, I did not know that anxiety + depression fell under this. I have a lot of both (Thanks a lot mother). I have a lot of friends with different disabilities as well, so this is . I also wouldn’t be surprised if I had ADHD or something like that l, but I’m prob not even allowed to get tested till I’m 19. Stay safe everyone!
Happy disability pride month!! Also tysm for sharing awareness, it means a lot!
I fall under blue, gold, and white
I have ADHD and dyslexia which makes it hard to write and understand patterns (but I still manage to do it anyway lol)
My anxiety and emotional sensitivity mean that negative comments hit me extra hard. I get really sad whenever anyone says something mean, even if it’s not directed at me.
I have a skin allergy (I think mine is dermatographia)
