Happy pride month everyone!!!
A little bit about pride month~
Pride Month is observed annually in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. The uprising, which began when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in New York City, sparked resistance and the rise of LGBTQ+ activism. The first Pride marches, held one year later in June 1970, commemorated the Stonewall Uprising and evolved into a month-long celebration.
Tldr-
Pride month has been around since 1970 due to the stonewall riots
Anyways do any of y’all go to any pride celebrations?
If you are a part of the LGBTQIA+++ community please post your flag and tell us about you!!
Ooo thanks for sharing some info!! That’s really interesting! I haven’t had the opportunity to go to any pride celebrations unfortunately but I’m transmasc (and used to identify as pan but I’m back in questioning) :] HAPPY PRIDE MONTHHHHHHHHHH
I go to the pride markets and fests in my area! Transgender - Not cisgender Demigirl - In between a girl/woman and a non-binary Pansexual - Attraction to people no matter the gender
Thank you for spreading awareness. I love how supportive Ribblr is. It’s important to have safe spaces available especially for young LGBTQ+ members. I am a lesbian and have been with my wife for almost 19 years. I have been to several pride parades over the years as well! Happy pride to everyone.
My church (I’m a Unitarian Universalist, not super religious) had a pride service on june 1st and they played Pink Pony Club on the giant organ lmaoooooo and a drag queen came and it was so fun lmao
what unitarian universalism is if you're curious
ok so basically, the way I see it, is our church is super supportive and it’s just a place for people to meet on sundays and sing and yk do church things together, except we don’t care if you believe in god or not, or if you do prayers or not, just be kind to everybody and it’s a really nice community
here’s what the official website says:
In Unitarian Universalism, you can bring your whole self: your full identity, your questioning mind, your expansive heart.
Together, we create a force more powerful than one person or one belief system. Unitarian Universalists do not have to let go of personal experiences, practices, or beliefs to be part of this community. We join together on a journey that honors all our individual backgrounds and experiences.
Our beliefs are diverse and inclusive. We have no shared creed. Our shared covenant is expressed through the inseparable and deeply interdependent shared values of interdependence, pluralism, justice, transformation, generosity, and equity – all centered around love. Although Unitarianism and Universalism both have origins as liberal Christian traditions, today we embrace diverse teachings from many different global religions and philosophies.
Unitarian Universalists believe more than one thing. We think for ourselves and reflect together about important topics like the following:
The existence of a Higher Power
Life and Death
Sacred Texts
Prayer and Spiritual Practices
We are united in our broad and inclusive outlook, and in our shared values. We are united in shared experience: our open and stirring worship services, religious education and rites of passage; our work for justice; our commitment to center the experiences and needs of the marginalized and most vulnerable among us; our dedication to living in a way that always centers love.
anyway… I’m queer! Idk I used to identify as a pansexual demigirl but i’m kinda in the middle of an identity crisis rn lol
I crocheted a progressive pride flag :3 It was my first c2c project
We had a small ceremony in our backyard. My sister officiated we have only been married for 4 years, together for 19. I was 17 and she was 18 but we have known each other since we were 12 and 13!
I am a lesbian and this year I have painted my nails so that each nail has one of the lesbian flag colors!! (I’m also questioning my gender, but we’ll procrastinate on that one lol)
