Has anyone ever crocheted a dress?

Hello! So I am gonna start my dress soon, probably next week. For those who don’t know, it’s this one.

However, I have a problem.

The only yarn I have is a 100% acrylic, red heart super saver, #4 worsted. I have no idea what that means tho .

I want to wear the dress during the summer, but I fear it might be to hot. To anyone who has made a wearable, any tips? Is this ok or do I need to get a thinner yarn? Let me know!

I would 100% suggest mixing mohair yarn with a skinnier acrylic yarn so it’s more airy and soft!

mmm…so use whatever weight the pattern calls for, but i’d go for a cotton or cotton/acrylic mix.

i use some sport weight (could be considered dk i guess) yarn for my wearables. like this panel of the top i’m working on is said yarn.

and this top is the same yarn, different color gradient:

i use this specific yarn for a lot because i love it…but unless you want to do some math and figure out the pattern if the yarn weight is mismatched, i would find a cotton or cotton acrylic mix. if you’re ordering online, read reviews!

hope this helps! if you need any more help, feel free to @ me!

also the red heart super saver yarn is great for stuff that you need cheap yarn and lots of it….as long as it doesn’t go on your body lol. it’s sooooo itchy.

I would recommend like a 4 ply cotton yarn so it’s not too thick. I like the Hobbii Friends 8/4 cotton yarn for wearables.

garments made out of red heart (for me) tend to be kind of heavy, so maybe during the fall with like a white shirt inside? or perhaps i’d suggest a diff yarn! good luck

for summer clothes it would be better some cotton, silk, viscose or bamboo yarn. or a mix of those. I wouldn’t choose acrylic tbf

I have never ctocheyed a dress, but I am making a pair of socks for my mom out of 100% cotton yarn (brand: ā€œI LOVE This Yarnā€, in my case it is ā€œI LOVE This Cottonā€ but the same thing).

Yes size 4 is perfect
I made a dress in red heart too and it isn’t hot so you’ll be fine
But if your going for a drappier dress(tho it should be a lil crappy)
Use fingering or sport<3
Good luckkkk <3

Size 4 would work fine. If you want to use red heart it can be itchy, so you may want to line the inside of the dress with a soft fabric or something

I should do that!
