Has anyone noticed this in tester calls?

I have posted quite a few tester calls in the last 2 months, but half the time, people never actually test my pattern, and they seem to ignore the group chat completely. What’s even more frustrating is that the same people are literally signing up to test another one of my patterns the next week. It’s like they just forget!
What do you guys do about this? I feel bad taking people off the tester call after half the testing time, especially because I understand that things come up, but I’m honestly at the point of if they won’t respond and let me know that they are testing, they probably won’t end up testing at all.

Thanks for reading my mini rant. I am seriously frustrated.
Any ideas or tips for this are greatly appreciated :)

One thing you can do is text them how the pattern is going and if they don’t respond within 24 hours they are off the testing call

Have someone right now who did the exact same. And so many that click the picture and don’t answer questions. It’s very frustrating. Starting to think these people just want to steal the pattern while they’re a tester. Which is ridiculous since they get it for free when they finish anyways

That is super frustrating!! So sorry you have to go through this. It’s sad how common this is. I’ve experienced this with people I’ve tested for. They’ll be active but ghost their own testers?? I dont get it. I’ve been in some group chats that require the testers to leave a comment within 48 hours or they get removed. Maybe that could help improve finding good testers that won’t “ghost”

My friend have been posting tester calls too and she keep telling me that ppl dont respond even if she says, " if u dont respond in the next 48 hous, u will be kicked out. " And after the due date is up, the ppl who dont answer seen to be leaving the gc without even finishing the test. I think the best thing to do is just remove them from the tester call and the gc.

You can drop people for not responding and/or finishing if you’d like. You can also release your pattern to your testers in sections - making sure that everyone comments (or finishes the first section, or whatever criteria) before getting the next section. That may help cut down on ghosters just trying to get the pattern.

Edit: Some designers will additionally keep a blacklist of those who they won’t accept for a tester anymore.

this has happened to me b4, but I block them usually

I never understood what that block view option was for. Thanks so much for this! Going to definitely use this moving forward until I get all testers to acknowledge the group chat! Now if I could actually get testers :expressionless_face:

The dragon in your pfp is so cool!
Feel free to tag me in any tester calls you may have in the future (: I usually have some free time to knock out tests and journals.

Thanks! It’s a crafty intentions pattern I did for my husband. Her patterns are crazy detailed and come out so well!

I have had 2 patterns i applied to show up in my testing bin but i never received the gc notice. I messaged both people thru the message option on their page. One added me to the group chat and the other ignored me completely so i have this pattern sitting in my test bucket. Its done with a completed journal but designer has not responded. So maybe im not the only one with that issue. I never intentionally dont respond to a gc .

As a tester, I might be able to answer why testers “ghost”..
I have found that it takes me forever to find the tester chats with in this app since they reworked it… personally…when I had to have surgery on my hand and wrist, I went and let all the designers I was testing for know what was going on…that’s the right thing to do..so if testers are reading this, take note…if your doing a test and something comes up, tell the designer right away!! If you know you can’t finish by the deadline, either get an extension or don’t even sign up…I hope this helps give one perspective of ghosting…hugs!!!:rose:

Agreed. I think I’m gonna block those people from testing it seems easiest

While I haven’t hosted a test myself, I’ve had designers ghost the group chat for over a week with no explanation, despite being active elsewhere on the site. I’ve also had tests where no group chat was ever made, and the designer never responded. One pattern has been sitting in my testing library for weeks with no communication at all, even though the call is still open, so I get the frustration.

I’ve always found “be active in the GC” a bit vague. Does it mean constant chatting, or just regular updates? I always end up posting small updates and making light conversation while I’m there. That said, setting clear response deadlines (like 48-72 hours) and tagging testers directly can really help, since some have their chats set to only get notified when tagged.

Clear chat expectations set the tone. If someone can’t meet them, they shouldn’t stay in the test. Like any job, you can’t ignore responsibilities and expect to keep the role. Testing means following the designer’s rules and finishing the pattern if that’s too much, they’re not a good fit.

It’s never fun to remove someone, but actions have consequences. Death, taxes, and accountability some things are just part of life. Even if some of us aren’t old enough just yet to get the tax part lol, we are all old enough to understand that choices have outcomes.

I have had a lot of tests lately and my completion rate is around 45%… ranging from 25% to 70%. A lot of random aborters and ghosts. Some overestimated their abilities and some had things come up (all alerted me and it was not held against them).

I had 1 person who was testing 3 of my patterns and ghosted on all of them while applying to more tests for other people and boasting about how many tests they are apart of… there are a lot of serial testers here and Ribblr needs to cap them somehow. Like no more than 5 at a time just in case you get some absent designers holding you hostage after completing the test by not gifting it.

I have blocked so many testers it is ridiculous

My new plan is to only accept people who follow all tester call instructions or have been fantastic testers in the past. I am now working on a spreadsheet so I can keep track of good testers and bad ones. I am also searching for testers outside of Ribblr.

I sign up for a lot but get mine finished.

I understand totally. The tester call I did, people signed up never responded to messages, and I had about 5 I had to remove from testing and take back the pattern from them. I guess they just want to try to take the pattern without doing their part. Sad thing they get the pattern gifted to them after they finish testing it.

I know everyone has to start somewhere at testing. It can be hard to get to test when you don’t have any karmas points. I am happy to let newbies test, but geez, finish the test… No ghosting.

I have four more ready to test but am almost afraid to test them because of last times results.

Remove them, and block them. They really seem to be bad testers..
